Black & White Schema Kit

This kit is meant to accompany the Atelier at Home Program: Black & White.

This kit consists of five play invitations, based on the inspiration black & white, as well as the incorporation of schematic play.

There are 5 play invitations in the box.

The first is a dry exploration with black and white beans. This invitation explores the transporting schema, as the children will be encouraged to dump and pour the beans into different containers (provided in the kit as well).

The second is a wet exploration. Children will use white glue to produce floating swirls on dark water. The patterns created by the white glue on the black water transforms the quality of the dark color. This is the transformation schema. This invitation also has the reverse activity where you add dark liquid into white water.

Next, is the transformation schema by pounding chalk and charcoal into a powder state. The mortar and pestle is also included in the kit. Before they pound the chalk and charcoal, they are also welcome to scribble with them on the black and white paper provided.

The fourth invitation is an exploration on perspective schema using light and shadows. Children will see how different objects project different shadows depending on their transparencies and translucencies.

Finally, with clay, they will explore the connecting enveloping schema, as they will pull apart and join the clay together, as well as incorporate different loose parts into the clay too.

• This kit contains enough materials for one child. If you have more than one child participating in the Atelier at Home: Black and White Program, we recommend purchasing additional kits. Siblings are entitled to a 15% discount off of the price of the original kit.
• The kit is available upon pre-order basis. Kits take up to 5-7 working days to be fulfilled. You will be notified once the kits are ready for self collection/delivery.
